Waukegan Safe & Lock has grown to become the largest locksmith serving customers from Chicago to Milwaukee, as well as McHenry, Kane, DuPage, Kenosha, Walworth, Racine and Waukesha counties.
Charlie Oechsle opened his business in the 1950s as The Waukegan Safe Company. Charlie offered safe sales and service along with professional bank vault and safe deposit box service. In 1969 a complete locksmith service was incorporated into the business. His son, Bill Sr., eventually purchased the business in 1979 and owned it until for thirty years. Bill Sr. sold the business to the current owners, his son, Bill Jr. and his son-in-law, Tom Kruse in 2009.
With both inside and outside sales and service, we offer complete residential, commercial, and industrial locksmith service. From residential door knobs and deadbolts to commercial steel doors and frames, we can service your existing hardware or supply the hardware that is needed.
We currently employ 10 experienced full time locksmiths and safe technicians, most of which have been with us for over 15 years. All of our technicians are registered by the Illinois Department of Professional Regulation, under the Private Alarm, Private Detective, and Private Security Act.
